There's always been something we didn't know how to do. - Rob Knight
When was the last one to fall? - Jeff Frick
I would say it was when the LLMs was shown that they could generate chains of motor commands to solve complex tasks automatically. - Rob Knight
For decades, 60, 70 years, since AI was formed, that problem was just it was so difficult, we just tended to ignore it. We knew it had to be solved at some point, but there was enough other problems to be dealing with. - Robert Knight
LLMs by giving a method to tackle language, they accidentally solved that. - Robert Knight
Clean up this mess
Sounds pretty simple until you start breaking it down into it's components.
And it feels like a classic Moravec’s Paradox problem. Easy for a small child to comprehend, tough for a computer, hard to program all the variables into tight script.
Then along come LLMs.
And fundamentally change not only the training, but voice understanding, a different level of 'comprehension' in the context of converting instructions, to a task, the individual components, including restrictions and gates (don't throw the shrink wrap into recycling in this county), to successfully complete the task.
The times they are a changing
