Slack Doesn't Stop at Five

People still want to be together. Putting it as a battle between one or the other is silly. -

I have become quite tired of the polarizing. How do we achieve the best of all worlds? - David Abrams

What’s the portfolio of opportunities for your people to do their best work? - Jeff Frick

Activity based.

You’ve heard it before. What does it mean?

Check the attached chart that Matt Gabree former VP Real Estate & Workplace, Tripadvisor shared, where they surveyed their people to find out which activities were best supported where.

To say some activities were WAY overweighed per place, would be an understatement.

Better at Home
Telephone conversations, Business confidential discussions, Video calls or conferences, Private conversations, Audio calls or conferences, Planned meetings

Better at Office
Informal social interaction, hosting visitors, clients or customers, learning from others, Using papers or materials, Using technical / specialist equipment or materials, Collaborating on creative work

If you have an office, invest to optimize for activities better done at the office.

The people will use it for that. You won’t have to make them. Team level agreements.

I didn’t grow up in commercial real estate, but I’ve listened and learned from some of the best in the business.
