Q - ‘Look what it just did!’ Wow moments? - Jeff Frick
A - Two for me - Cameron GrovesTwo years ago someone on the team wrote an application on their phone flying to Hawaii with his wife for vacation. And he showed us the application. Couple months later, working on a project adjudicating unemployment insurance claims. I saw Gemini creating questions on the fly to help an employee or claimant, ask what’s wrong, validating within a matter of minutes, then summarize. - Cameron Groves
That was the ‘Wow’ moment that for me, this world is going to change forever. - Cameron Groves
What’s Your Wow Moment?
Tell me you’re spending time working on your AI skills
without telling me you’re spending time working on your AI skills.
Two pretty clear indicators:
Frustration
Wow
You get frustrated with it. You argue with it. You battle with it to try to get done what you want to get done. That’s part of the process; it’s iterative and if you just accept what it gives you, you’re not really putting your stamp on it for what you’re trying to achieve.
And then, suddenly, WOW! “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe we just did this” or “I can’t believe that I just did this with this.” or ‘Who can I call to tell what I/it/ I with it, just did.’
For each new tech wave, there’s often a moment when it makes sense to YOU, in your own context, value, and relevance. Clarity. Now I get it. Like when the plane landed on the Hudson, and people were capturing photos of passengers out on the wing, long before the ‘real’ news caught up. That was my Twitter moment. I got it. (BTW RIP Twitter).
It’s great to ask people that are out working on customer engagements every day, especially on the public sector side, because we all get the benefits of the work being done for the greater population. I had to ask Cameron, “What are your two favorite things that really indicated to you that we’ve entered a different chapter?” These were his two examples.
