Q - What one piece of advice would you give to someone who wants to start the journey as an entrepreneur today? - Chet Kapoor
A - You got to feel like you have to do it. You have to do it. You can't not do it. - @Jeff Frick
I worked at a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and one thing I would often do is try to talk people out of starting their entrepreneurial idea.
Sound strange?
Because I knew, that as someone new to their field, with just a cursory understanding of the space (after prepping for our first meeting), if I could talk you out of the idea.......
There probably wasn't much there to begin with. Not so much the economic opportunity, but the heart and soul and will power and staying power to see it through the many unanticipated bumps along the road. So by talking someone out of doing something they really weren't prepared to do, figured I saved them that second mortgage they were just about to take out.
You gotta know it, and want it, and see it, so clearly that nothing will get in the way, and every obstacle is simply a new challenge to overcome.
Entrepreneurial journeys are not for for the weak of heart. Most only hear of the successes. They don't hear about the other 98% that don't end well.
Of course, If they brought the passion, and the knowledge, I jumped in to help in any way I could.
Thanks again for the conversation Chet
